Another beautiful wedding hitting the blogs from June (of this year!!) I am working hard to try to keep up to date this time 🙂 :p

Jon and Kate got married at the beautiful Matthaei Botannical Gardens on a beautiful Sunday!!  Kate had an amazing dress with her first pair of jimmy choos!  Her maid of honor had to sew her into the dress but you would have never known and it made for great pictures 🙂 View More: http://amandamaephotography.pass.us/goldsteinView More: http://amandamaephotography.pass.us/goldstein

Purely Wedding: Cameron and Aaron

As I am slowly getting around to blogging my fantastic weddings from last year I am reminded how AWESOME they were.

This wedding was a favorite of mine for so many reasons but there were goats and brick oven cooked pizza… so that will be hard to top. 🙂 2016-04-27_0001a
This sink is from my dreams. 2016-04-27_0001b
All of the flowers are from the farmers market and hand made! Talk about talent!!!  Love the beer bottle to hold the corsages! 2016-04-27_0002
The bride made this awesome cake topper!  Along with their version of a guest book as well.  Talk about talent!!!

Purely Wedding: Dave & Jenni

As I slowly get back into blogging (slowly is one of the bigger understatements of the year!) This wedding is of particular importance to me.  One Jenni and Dave are AWESOME.  I mean check out this engagement session.  In addition to their awesomeness I had the privilege of seeing one of my favorite couples at their wedding since they were referral! (referred couples are my favorite because I almost always get to reconnect with past couples!! seriously! Best part of my job!)  And it was my first wedding back in the saddle after sweet E graced us with her presence (early!).   Needless to say this wedding had a lot riding on it to be fantastic.

And then the rain happened.

So many couples worry about rain.  Thankfully being in Michigan we very rarely have rain all day.  Most weddings it rains part of the day but we can almost always sneak out for a few pictures.  But this season, this season it rained from May until July.

As professionals we were fighting fight club style for ‘hidden’ gems where we could take couples and bridal parties for portraits.  Jenni and Dave were rockstars though and you would not know that basically their entire plan was set into plan B mode.  We rocked it and this will be forever one of my favorites.

We started at the Downtown Marriott in the Ren Cen.  They had a beautiful room that over looked the city with windows to die for.  *Swoon*  2016-02-24_0001 2016-02-24_0002The day was dreary but it made for some super cool pictures through these windows!  Pro tip! When picking out a room to get ready in if they have a bridal suite or any suite really that has gorgeous windows it is worth the extra buck if you are having a photographer with you.  We did our first look and gift exchange pictures in this room because it was so beautiful! 2016-02-24_0003 2016-02-24_0004 2016-02-24_0005 2016-02-24_0006 2016-02-24_0007Check out this light!! And this couple!!! ❤ 2016-02-24_0008 2016-02-24_0009 2016-02-24_0010 2016-02-24_0011 2016-02-24_0012Thankful the girls trusted me for this.  At first they thought I was crazy (and I probably looked crazy as I was practically laying on the desk to get the shot) but it was worth the crazy! 2016-02-24_0013and this! check Jenni out! 2016-02-24_0014The wedding and reception were at Waterview Loft at the Detroit Port Authority  Because it is a federal building it was a bit tricky to get everything loaded and unloaded but the view was spectacular!!! Windsor was right across the river and you could see the Ambassador bridge too!  Had the weather cooperated we would have been on the river for appetizers and for portraits.  But the rain looked just as beautiful!   2016-02-24_0015 2016-02-24_0016Their staff was amazing.  Super organized and always helpful!  These details were stunning! 2016-02-24_0017 2016-02-24_0018The ceremony was beautiful and on the lower level with the reception and dinner above.

I know we were all bummed it was so soggy but you rocked it!!!!  I hope you love your pictures as much as I do! 🙂 ❤

#chrandrea: Purely Wedding

One year ago on Superbowl Weekend I tried to meet with this awesome couple for our initial consult but we got blizzard-ed out!  So we had to reschedule and eventually ended up just setting up a skype consult due to uncooperative weather.  The skype consult ended in a booking (YAY!) which ended in a super awesome esess which resulted in this amazing wedding.  Seriously.  This wedding could not have been more amazing.  Awesome people, amazing light and just some serious fun.  (I mean we took painted tongue pictures in a bowling alley!)  Not to mention, they have a celebrity name #chrandrea!   So now that I am mostly done gushing about this fun couple, check out a snippet of their amazing wedding!  With engagement season raging around us please remember me as new relationship statuses (i think it would be more cool if it were statui )  are popping up around you! 🙂

Comic Book Stylized Wedding

So I am finally getting around to my list of things I wanted to finish *before* baby and this is one of them!! But since the shoot happened the day AFTER Baby things have fallen a bit behind on my time schedule.  However if there is one thing I have learned through this is how grateful I am I always get to work with such amazing vendors in this industry!

2015-05-24_0012After seeing the space the Ann Arbor Art Center had to offer I wanted to plan a challenge for myself and some equally amazing vendors!  I wanted to use this fun space as a way to combine elegance with quirky and nerdy.  You see my husband and I are kind of big nerds and I am super jealous of all of the themed weddings going on lately, so if we could redo our day I think it might look something like this!   View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshootsI worked with Rachel at Two Foot Creative who helped pair me up with some great vendors!  All of these cool centerpiece designs are from Bill over at Bill Hamilton Designs View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshootsThe flowers are actually handmade by Rachel inspired by Pintrest from comic books!  And the beautiful and edgy table linens are from Event Source. The menu/invitation letter press are from Gourmet InvitationsView More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshoots View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshootsThe cake is from just down the street at Jefferson Market! View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshoots View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshootsWe used Rachel and her boyfriend as our stunning models! Rachel got a dress from the fantastical gals over at The Brides Project which resells gently used bridal gowns to raise money for cancer research!  View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshoots View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshootsThere is so much about this shoot that I am just in love with!  It has a classic feel from the loft space at the Art Center but it also is edgy and lends to an artistic touch as well.  It is the perfect location for couples who are looking for something different for their big day but the space could also easily be used as an elegant or modern space as well.  View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshootsWe planned our shoot 6 weeks before my due date because our son came so late (43 weeks almost!!) I figured we had more than enough time and it would help keep me busy through those last weeks of discomfort.  Our daughter had very different ideas about how she would come into the world and came at 35 weeks 6 days, the day before the shoot was scheduled.  I am so unbelievably lucky to have such awesome friends in the industry and Miranda over at Inner Circle Photography didn’t miss a beat!  She shot the session for me AND shot our family hospital session.  I am so grateful that so much of the photography community I am a part of is ready to jump in and help each other out when real life emergencies happen!

Now enough about Éowyn (though she is undoubtedly adorable!) and back to this spectacular series of photography!  View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshootsThe window light in the loft area is just beautiful! View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshootsView More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshoots View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshoots View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshoots View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshootsView More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshootsAn added bonus of having your event in an Art Gallery is the ability to not enjoy the art with your guests but also be able to shoot in an area that is unique and beautifully lit! View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshoots View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshoots View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshoots View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshootsBecause we wanted to have a comic book theme we decided to walk on down to the Vault of Midnight just down the street for a few fun shots with actual comics.  We were so grateful they let us use their super awesome store! View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshootsView More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshootsFinally I had envisioned some edgier lit portraits in Graffiti Alley downtown Ann Arbor.  Miranda captured what I had in mind perfectly!   View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshoots View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshoots View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshoots View More: http://innercirclephoto.pass.us/styleshootsA big thank you to all of the vendors who participated and even bigger thank you to Rachel and Miranda who were able to pull this off as I was recovering from having a baby just 12 hours before the shoot was supposed to start!

Ann Arbor Art Center

This winter I was lucky enough to be able to meet some lovely ladies at the Ann Arbor Art Center at a local networking meeting and was able to see their beautiful spaces they have for parties.  After seeing their digs I just knew I had to do a stylized shoot before little miss was born.

However Eowyn had very different plans (and came super-de-duper early!) but my pal Miranda over at Inner Circle Photography swooped in and helped me out BIG time!   I will be posting the stylized shoot soon but in the mean time I  wanted to post some shots I took of the Art Center’s building and it’s newly renovated spaces!  If you are looking for a space for a wedding or party check these guys out, honestly it is amazing and so conveniently located!  2015-05-24_0012The Art Center is nestled right downtown Ann Arbor on Liberty Street between Ashley and Main and over looks the beautiful restaurant district. 2015-05-24_0013It is the perfect space for small to mid sized weddings, corporate events, parties and Mitzvahs!  Your guests would be surrounded by art in the second floor galleries as well as have the options of the beautiful 3rd floor studios with exposed brick and newly renovated wood flooring.  2015-05-24_0014 2015-05-24_0015The 117 Gallery is a rotating gallery but Stacey  has a good idea of what type of art will be displayed in advance! 2015-05-24_0016Each floor has beautiful lighting as well as windows that overlook the town.  2015-05-24_00172015-05-24_0018Downstairs on street level is the Art Center’s store as well as a pottery studio. 2015-05-24_0019The galleries are above are by way of a beautiful original wooden stair case.  2015-05-24_0020After doing the room shoot for the website update I also had the privilege of shooting their Vine and Dine fundraiser later the following week.  2015-05-24_0021Seeing the spaces decorated and full of guests was beautiful.  The evening was just perfect.  2015-05-24_0022 2015-05-24_0023Guests were able to admire art as well enjoy the evening.  2015-05-24_0024If you are in need of a space to host your event and are looking for a venue give Stacey Bodner a call or fill out the contact form!

Purely Wedding: Chelsea and Andy

On yet another frigid day I am dreaming of warmer weather (we will get to the 40’s next week!!!!!) So I bring you Chelsea and Andy’s beautiful Shelby TWP backyard wedding from this past September! 🙂

2015-03-06_0001The details were just stunning!  Every place setting had it’s own set of antique china that the guests brought home as their gift!

View More: http://amandamaephotography.pass.us/chelseaandandyThey also had exceptionally fun (and nerdy!) details! 🙂  I was in love!

2015-03-06_0003The flowers were just beautiful (though I admit I am partial to hydrangeas 🙂 )

View More: http://amandamaephotography.pass.us/chelseaandandy 2015-03-06_0005I always love when grooms get emotional and Andy was just beyond happy to see his bride 🙂

2015-03-06_0006The wedding was performed by Chelsea’s brother in law which was sweet and very personable!

2015-03-06_0007 2015-03-06_0008After the wedding we headed over to Yates Cider Mill for some portraits.
