One year ago on Superbowl Weekend I tried to meet with this awesome couple for our initial consult but we got blizzard-ed out! So we had to reschedule and eventually ended up just setting up a skype consult due to uncooperative weather. The skype consult ended in a booking (YAY!) which ended in a super awesome esess which resulted in this amazing wedding. Seriously. This wedding could not have been more amazing. Awesome people, amazing light and just some serious fun. (I mean we took painted tongue pictures in a bowling alley!) Not to mention, they have a celebrity name #chrandrea! So now that I am mostly done gushing about this fun couple, check out a snippet of their amazing wedding! With engagement season raging around us please remember me as new relationship statuses (i think it would be more cool if it were statui ) are popping up around you! 🙂
So it isn’t quite Spring enough yet to be thinking about Graduation… but it will be time for Grad parties SOON! 🙂 So I have decided to start throwing some of my 2015 Seniors into the TBT Mix 🙂 Meet Lauren! A Senior at Saline High and a of course an AMAZING Saline XC Runner 🙂 I was so thankful when she asked if I would do her portraits!!! We even got to hang out with her sisters!!! You can tell she is one lucky and loved girl! 🙂 I always love hanging out with the XC girls because Senior Portraits is so much different than practice 🙂 I am the one sweaty and they get to look all cute 😉 Thank you so much for hanging out with me and I hope you have the best of luck in the years to come!! I know you’ll be AMAZING 🙂

So with the advent of March (And the Vernal Equinox!!!!) We can all hope and pray that ‘Spring’ actually makes an appearance! SO for this Throwback Thursday I am featuring a session that we actually did over Labor Day Weekend when it was a bit steamy and hot but features some FUN colors that I cannot get enough (and remind me of spring!!!)
This family is near and dear to my heart!!! Kevin is the campus pastor at our *fantastic* church 242 Ann Arbor! We have been attending there regularly for about 2 years and have been so blessed by the community there! (and it is where Lalo goes to preschool!!!!!) So when Kevin approached me to take some portraits I was thrilled!!! They spend a lot of time downtown Ann Arbor and loved the Urban Look versus the more rustic and I was excited to spend some time with their fabulous boys exploring downtown! These two are just adorable! Even with raising three boys you can see they make their marriage a priority and it shows in the joy so evident in the images! The boys were super creative and helpful in coming up with fun ideas and of course, goofy! 🙂 Towards the end of the session it was threatening rain but we managed to finish up unscathed! The last series of images are perhaps some of my favorites!!! Thank you guys for being so AWESOME!!! I am so honored to have been able to capture your beautiful family!!!!!!
So this girl and her family are pretty special to me because I first met them when Sophie was Lalo’s age (!!!!!!!) and they were my first steady baby sitting job! Needless to say, a little time has passed and Sophie is all grow’d up and graduating from Pioneer this spring! We hung out at the Arb for the afternoon and had some spectacular weather and lighting! 🙂
It was really fun working with Sophie and seeing some the same spunk from when she was a wee one still showing in her glowing personality today! 🙂
These black and white images were some of my favorite ones from the whole day! 🙂
Thank you so much for letting me capture your Purely Senior Session Sophie! 🙂 You are just stunning!! Excited to see where life takes you!
I am finally getting back to making up the blog posts I missed the last half of the wedding season and I am so excited to kick off this week’s Throwback Thursday with Ashley and Ryan!
The entire day was beautiful and full of fun, laughter and friends! Ashley’s parents were very missed at their wedding but honored in beautiful ways! The open air chapel was just beautiful and it was a great August day for their wedding!! (In fact… on this -25 degree wind chill day I am aching for an August day!) Crystal Gardens has room for multiple weddings to occur at the same time but the staff does a magnificent job making each couple feel as if they are the only ones the entire day! We didn’t venture off site for pictures but due to fantastic weather and a great Bridal Party (and not to mention some awesome chemistry with the Ashley and Ryan!) we had an amazing time! These two are just the best!!! And you can see their love and their personalities just radiating! The best part of their day was how ready they were to just CELEBRATE! The entire bridal party, all of the guests and definitely Ryan and Ashley spent the entire day looking for fun ways to celebrate their love and it really showed! Thank you guys for letting me photograph your day! Your story, love and laughter will forever be a favorite day of mine!!! I love fun couples that become friends!! ❤
I cannot believe that school registration is happening… right now! How is it that this entire summer seemed to wiz by in the blink of an eye?
I feel like this fall is particularly bittersweet for me on so many levels. First and foremost because I am one of those people who continues to believe that summer this year was not truly summer. (I am a desert creature and LIVE for the heat!) I am NOT ready for running tights and gloves and layers…!!! (didn’t we JUST put those away…!?) Second, my Lalo Bear starts preschool this year and this mama is NOT ready. Lastly, I was asked to teach a Spanish class to a homeschool coop… so now it is vaguely familiar to the August days of Professional Development, class room readiness and getting together with your teams… on an entirely different (much smaller) level of course 🙂 Normally the oppressive heat (mind you I LOVE this heat) leads you to long for fall and welcome it, but this fall is just SO different.
Aside from all of my grumbles there are so many things about fall that really do bring me immense joy! Pumpkin bread, pumpkin spice lattes (I will get one September 1 and probably wait in line to get it!), pumpkin candles, pumpkin farms… (see a pattern here 😉 ) Hoodie weather, the smell of leaves as they crunch under your feet, the sound as the wind blows through the leaves, that crisp feeling when you get out of bed and shiver a little bit and then cozy up with layers like FLEECE PANTS! Hot cocoa, chilly-nosed Eskimo kisses from a toddler (who is now a preschooler… wha?!) cross country (and crisp yet warm in the sun afternoon fall runs!) Fall is beautiful. Insanely beautiful, especially here in Michigan. Which leads me to another thing I am looking forward to this fall, YUMMY FALL LIGHT!
Oddly my fall wedding load is pretty light this year which leaves some more room for something else I love, fall portraits!!!! While weddings are one of my first passions capturing these special moments for Families, High School Seniors or Couples is so magical with Fall light and leaves! Just like that magical time when the winter lets up and the spring breaks through offering a new hope, something about Fall promises warmth and laughter to store up for the coming cold months and something like closure on the beautiful season and memories in the rear view mirror.
The weatherman is calling for another cold, snowy winter so why don’t you warm your home with the beautiful colors and memories of fall portraits!? I still have slots available for class of 2015 Seniors, Families and Couples!!! (Couples, if you haven’t had exclusive portraits together since your wedding day… let’s talk about that!! It is so important!!!) Give me a call or shoot me an email today! I can’t wait to get you on the books for this fall!
So it is almost graduation for the 2014 seniors!!! Many are done with school and most are prepping for their graduation parties as well as their ceremony, so in tribute to so many *amazing* seniors I had last year I figured throwback thursday would be dedicated to one of them!!
Rachel is just beautiful!! It was impossible to take a bad picture of her and she was so natural with posing which was fantastic while photographing and just killer while trying to edit 😉
She was very willing to try some more offbeat and artsy poses which turned out super fun! 🙂 Check out the pose above there!! She smiled the entire session, trying to get a few serious poses was some serious work :p The evening was beautiful which isn’t abnormal at Island Park and we were delighted to take advantage of it!! 🙂 Thank you Rachel for having me do your session!! And best of luck in the coming summer and fall! 🙂
