What’s Up Wednesday: I Gotta Dollar

So not much has been going on around here other than pure stir craziness… so Lalo and I decided to look through his baby book to take a walk down memory lane (and maybe update it since it hasn’t been done since his first birthday……)

When we were looking through it he wanted me to read nearly every card he has ever received which was fun AND produced a one dollar bill we forgot about!!ย  So, being three that dollar burned a hole in his pocket ALL day until we decided to go to dollar tree that night!

2014-02-27_0001It is fun to see how exciting a dollar is to a three year old! 2014-02-27_0002we walked around dollar tree for about thirty minutes as he hummed and ho-ed about which toy he wanted and how he could only choose one…2014-02-27_0003In the end he choose a PACK of toys that came with four so he could get more!!! Hah! such a smarty pants!ย  Unfortunately the toys are not well made so I guess we will soon learn the difference of quality versus quantity….ย  ๐Ÿ˜‰ 2014-02-27_0004 He is one happy boy and I am proud to be his mama!! Even if we are a stir crazy duo!ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

Throwback Thursday: Laugen Family!

This week I bring you the Laugens!!!! I figure for this throwback thursday it is appropriate because the Laugens moved to Michigan this past summer from Arizona…. to endure their first winter, one of our loooongest winters in the history of winters!ย ย  So, with March (and spring!!) just around the corner, I wanted to feature them to remind them that Michigan can be beautiful ๐Ÿ™‚ย ย  (and we are all cheering for spring, it isn’t just you ๐Ÿ˜‰ )2014-02-19_0001The girls were troopers!!! Which is really rare at their ages!ย  It was so great to get some really fun pictures ๐Ÿ™‚ 2014-02-19_0003Look at (BOTH!) those baby blues!2014-02-19_0005 2014-02-19_0006 2014-02-19_0007

We really had a quintessential Michigan fall day!! Sunny, just a touch warm with your jacket on and crisp leaves everywhere! 2014-02-19_0008 2014-02-19_0009You guys were such a blast and I am so thankful to be your Michigan Photographer! ๐Ÿ™‚ย  It will warm up!ย  I promise!! โค 2014-02-19_0010

What’s Up Wednesday: BREAD!

What’s Up Wednesday this week…. some yummy bread!

Many of you know I eat gluten free, so I personally do not eat much bread.ย  But Lalo and Rico- well that’s a different matter ๐Ÿ™‚ย  they happen to be of the bread loving types.ย  I used to just buy whatever store bought bread was on sale but as we have been trying to eat more whole foods I have been amazed at the amount of ingredients in store bought bread, even the ‘healthier’ versions (to which Rico informed me were not that great ๐Ÿ˜‰ )ย  SO I decided to take their bread into my own hands… of sorts.ย  Thanks to a good friend’s recipe (YAY ANG!) I was finally able to make some great sandwich worthy bread! (believe me- I had some failures before we had some winners! ๐Ÿ™‚ )

So as we perfected our recipe and decided we would ‘invest’ in our bread making ingredients so we bought a 50lb bag of bread flour!

2014-02-17_0001I kind of felt like we were on little house on the prairie or something with the sheer amount of flour.ย  I thought we had enough containers but we fell a little short so we still have some left in the bag! 2014-02-17_0002Lalo was our helper cleaning up all of the flour that was on the floor.
2014-02-17_0003 2014-02-17_0004I use a bread maker to make our sandwhich bread! It is super easy, basically dump everything in and push a button!ย  I have also enjoyed making more artisan type bread for the past several years.ย  Whenever we have a dinner party to go to I always make some form of yummy bread from their first book and it’s always a hit!ย  Rico has been asking me to attempt an asiago cheese bread- so this week I did! 2014-02-17_0005Chani was my tireless cheerleader, it even looks like she was practicing yoga! hah! 2014-02-17_0006This recipe was a bit more tricky than the breadmaker one in that there were many steps, but thanks to my kitchen aid mixer it worked out well! 2014-02-17_0008As you can see- I have a thing for the color orange ๐Ÿ™‚

The bread came out pretty good for a first try!ย  A little darker than we had hoped but in order to get it cooked all the way through we had to keep it in longer than anticipated.ย  In the future I think I will use some ceramic bread pans and hopefully that will make it cook a little more evenly!ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

2014-02-17_0009

Above are the two finished products!!! Smelled super yummy! (rico told me they tasted yummy!)

Thanks for stopping by my What’s Up Wednesday post! ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Until next week!

Throwback Thursday: Lozen Family! :)

While I have officially only known the Lozen Family for about three years, I feel like Amy and I are old soul friends ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I am not sure if you remember this past spring when I featured her daughter Lexi This year I got to do a special type of session- a year in review ๐Ÿ™‚

Begin Fall- a family of four! 2014-02-12_0001These are some of my favorite images of the whole session! 2014-02-12_0002 2014-02-12_0003Jack and Lexi being awesome! 2014-02-12_0004I just love the following series- it so represents the relationships of Jack and Lexi with Phil and Amy.ย  Just beautiful! 2014-02-12_0005 2014-02-12_0006 2014-02-12_0007Enter winter- time for a maternity session! ๐Ÿ™‚ (as you can see a teeny baby bump sneak peek in the fall session!) 2014-02-12_0011 2014-02-12_0012

Amy wanted a snowy maternity session and we were worried we may not have snow this year (since Ben was due in January…) however we were SO wrong! haha! We had several opportunities but used one of our (first) *big* snowfalls in December!ย  It was big fat fluffy flakes and amazing! 2014-02-12_0013 2014-02-12_0014Amy was a legit trooper! It was maybe 5 degrees outside! 2014-02-12_0015Some post birth photos when baby Ben was zero days new! 2014-02-12_0010

Whats Up Wednesday: Julie and Jesse NYE 2013

I needed to post this and life lately has been getting tax things together (lame!!) so I opted to have an awesome wedding instead of showing boring tax work!!!

I was so excited when Julie approached me to shoot a NYE wedding!! My hubby and I generally ring in the New Year watching a triology in sweatpants with pizza (nothing wrong with that!!), SO this was an exciting detour from the ordinary and I was not disappointed!

Because their wedding was later in the evening by the time we began shooting it was dark and cold so we high tailed to the Fisher Theatre and it was AMAZING!

Often I have to give couples fun prompts to help put them at ease in front of the camera but these two were as easy going as ever!! Both just eager to be together!! It is very obvious in their portraits and made it difficult for me to figure out *which* images I was going to edit! View More: http://amandamaephotography.pass.us/kershaw

Julie’s dress was so elegant and perfect for their evening and even better- it was super soft and comfortable!!!!!! Jesse works with Ford Racing and wasn’t phased for a second by our ‘paparazzi’ team of photographers!!! Most of the time his eyes were glued to his ravishingย  soon to be wife! ๐Ÿ™‚ View More: http://amandamaephotography.pass.us/kershaw View More: http://amandamaephotography.pass.us/kershawTheir ceremony and reception were both at the beautiful historic St Regis in Downtown Detroit!ย  It was beautiful, intimate and classy! Throwback Thursday: Kenton and Allison

Welcome to another edition of Throwback Thursday!ย  I am using these days to not only catch up on my blogging but re-feature some great shoots as well!

This shoot was a favorite of mine because it is my brother and his soon-to-be WIFE!

Meet Kenton and Allison!ย  The two met on the campus of Grand Valley State University and thus began a romance.ย  They became engaged in November of 2012 and have recently picked the date of May 30, 2015 for their big day!ย  Allison is a Grand Rapids native and Kenton lives there full time after graduating so I was excited when they came home for Thanksgiving to do a fun Ann Arbor session!
